Software Engineer, User Database Infrastructure

This team is building database infrastructure that lets everyday knowledge workers use Postgres-backed databases without needing to be DBAs, including AI agents that operate on that data. The role is a hands-on technical leadership position taking a new product from alpha to general availability, spanning provisioning and managing fleets of customer Postgres instances, schema evolution, query performance, and the user-facing product experience around these systems. You'll work directly with early customers to shape technical and product decisions and help the systems scale as adoption grows.

• 10+ years of production software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership on complex initiatives; hands-on production experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres or MySQL) including schema/index decisions, performance analysis, and debugging transactions, locking, or concurrency issues; strong backend fundamentals around correctness under concurrency and failure; systematic performance debugging skills (query plans, traces, profiling); willingness to work across the stack (Postgres, Go, TypeScript, Node.js, React); comfort using AI tools to accelerate engineering work. Nice to have: experience managing database fleets/platforms, deep Postgres optimization expertise, or building query layers, CDC pipelines, sync engines, or permission systems.
