Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), Financial Services- NYC

This role sits on OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team, which partners with banks, asset managers, insurers, and private capital firms to deploy production AI systems in regulated financial environments. The engineer would lead end-to-end deployments, from discovery and scoping through production, working across customer workflows like trading, risk, compliance, and underwriting, and collaborating with Product, Research, GTM, Security, Legal and GRC teams to build auditable, reliable systems and repeatable deployment patterns.

• 5+ years of software engineering, ML engineering, or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work in financial services or similarly regulated industries; experience owning complex AI or data systems end-to-end; familiarity with financial workflows (trading, risk, compliance, underwriting, operations, investment processes); production coding ability in Python, JavaScript, or similar; experience deploying LLM or generative model systems and evaluating model behavior and guardrails; strong cross-functional communication skills.
