Head of Finance - Data Centers

This role serves as the finance leader for OpenAI's self-built data center program, working across infrastructure, real estate, energy, construction, procurement, and finance teams. The person will evaluate proposed sites and projects, build investment cases and capex forecasts, manage capital budgets and financial controls through construction, and advise on financing structures such as project debt, leases, or joint ventures. They will also prepare investment recommendations for senior leadership and maintain a portfolio-level view of project costs and performance.

• 10+ years in strategic finance, infrastructure finance, or project development, ideally including experience as finance lead on large-scale data center or major power generation projects; investment banking or private equity background is strongly preferred. Strong financial modeling skills, knowledge of capital project economics, capex/cash flow forecasting, budget management, and financing structures for large infrastructure assets. Familiarity with construction cost drivers, utility/power timelines, procurement, and contract management, plus experience building and leading teams.
